Blog — Packing a storage unit: what the pros know.
The five rules
- Heavy on the bottom. Books, dishes, tools — they go in first.
- Breakables on top. Glass, lamps, framed art.
- Mattress against the long wall, on its side. Saves a ton of floor space.
- Leave a center aisle. Or you'll have to unpack to find anything.
- Label every box on two sides. One side ends up against a wall, guaranteed.
A note on box quality
Free grocery store boxes are tempting and sometimes terrible — they're often weak, oddly sized, and harbor pantry moths. We sell proper moving boxes at the office that all stack the same way.
