A tractor clearing a neighbor's snowy driveway

A Snow Story — When your neighbor's stuck.

January 28, 2026 · Community

Last winter, a neighbor of ours got snowed in. Frozen driveway, no way out, and the help he'd lined up never showed.

We had a tractor. He needed a hand. So we drove it over.

Two and a half hours later, his driveway was clear. He insisted on paying us for the time. We didn't want to say no — but we also didn't want to keep the money. So we donated it to Hope Distributed, the local nonprofit right around the corner from our facility.

A few days later, our neighbor posted this:

"I cannot recommend this facility enough! We were completely snowed in with a frozen driveway after our original help never showed. John (the owner) saw we were in a bind and brought his tractor over, spending two and a half hours helping us out of pure kindness. If this is how he treats his neighbors, you can bet he takes incredible care of his storage customers and their property. He is a man of high integrity and a truly great business owner. 10/10!"

We're not posting this to brag. We're posting it because it actually represents what we want Stone Spring Storage to be — a business that treats its neighbors like neighbors, and its customers like the same.

You can build a storage facility a lot of different ways. We chose to build one that lives in a community and acts like part of it. That's the difference between locally owned and corporate, and it's something you can feel the moment you call us, walk in, or rent a unit.

If you're looking for a storage facility in Harrisonburg, we'd love to earn your business — and your trust.
